How we support you as a family

From your first show round to your child’s last day with us, we are here to support you. Every child has a key person who builds a close relationship with them and with you, and many of our team are parents themselves, so they understand exactly how you feel.

We keep you close to your child’s day through the Famly app, and our door is always open for a chat whenever you need one.

Term dates and session times

The sessions we offer and the term dates for the year ahead. Term dates are the same at both nurseries.

Funded hours follow three terms a year, 38 weeks in all. Exact dates for 2026 to 2027 to follow.

Stay close to your child’s day with Famly

We use the Famly app to share photos, updates, meals, naps and messages through the day, so you can see how your child is getting on even when you are apart.

You will see photos, meals, naps and little moments from the day as they happen, and you can message the room team directly whenever you have a question.

Settling in

Starting nursery is a big step for the whole family. Every child settles gently with free intro sessions, with their own key person, at a pace that suits them. You are welcome to spend as much time with us as you like along the way.

Most children find their feet within a few sessions, but there is no rush. Your child’s key person will guide the pace with you, and you are welcome to stay for as long as helps.

Ofsted

Ofsted is the government body that inspects and registers early years settings. Both our nurseries are registered and inspected by them.

Ofsted inspections are changing

From November 2025, Ofsted stopped giving nurseries a single overall grade such as "Good" or "Outstanding". Instead, each inspection now ends with a report card. It gives a grade for each area of the nursery, such as how children learn and develop, their behaviour and wellbeing, and leadership, along with what the nursery does well and what it could do better.

Safeguarding is reported separately, as either met or not met.

Nurseries are inspected at least once in every four-year cycle. If an area is graded as needing attention, Ofsted will usually come back within 12 months, or within 6 months if urgent improvement is needed.

Reports from before the change still show the old one-word grades, so you may see both styles when you compare nurseries.

Parent questions answered

The questions we hear most from parents day to day.

How will you keep me updated about my child’s day?

Through the Famly app. We share photos, updates, meals, naps and messages during the day, and you can message the team back.

What happens on my child’s first few days?

Your child starts with free intro sessions, getting to know their key person and their room at their own pace. You are welcome to stay for as long as helps, and most children find their feet within a few sessions.

Who is my child’s key person?

Every child has their own key person in their room, who gets to know them and your family well. They are your first point of contact, and you will meet them during the intro sessions.

Where can I find your policies?

All our policies are on our policies page, where you can read or download them. The ones parents ask about most are safeguarding, admissions, attendance, GDPR and privacy, and complaints.

Come and have a look around

Ask us anything, or arrange a show round at Barnwood or The Quays. We will make you and your child very welcome.
